Academic School Year 2007 - 2008
SCHOOL CLOSING INFORMATION Each year the administration is faced with the decision of closing school because of severe weather. Basically, this decision is made after closely monitoring weather reports and forecasts, as well as phone calls from the custodian to the superintendent concerning visibility, drifting, and the parking lot conditions. The decision will then be made whether school will be open, closed, or delayed to a later starting time. If at all possible, this decision will be made by 7:00 a.m. and announced on KKOT, KZ100, and KLIR, as well as the scheduled time on KOLN-TV. We specifically want to ask your cooperation at these times by not calling the school to ask for information about school closing. Please stay posted by listening to your radios and TV sets for any information. It is important that we keep the school lines open for our own communication needs. We also want to emphasize that the ultimate decision to keep their own children home rests with parents if we decide to have school. Such a decision would be based on the premise that most of the students would not have a problem getting here. If school has started and we are forced to an early dismissal because of developing storm, a decision to close will be announced on KKOT, KZ100, and KLIR-FM as well as KOLN-TV. Again, it is the ultimate decision of the parent as to whether or not you want your child to come home if we have not yet announced that decision. During these times of inclement and severe weather, it takes the utmost cooperation on the part of parents and school officials to insure that the students get as much education as possible without endangering the students’ well-being. |
