COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to develop the basic techniques of welding and studying the processes used in the medal working industry. Students will learn the safety of metal shop and work with arc (stick) welding, TIG (aluminum) welding, gas metal arc welding oxyacetylene, and cutting processes. Students are required to bring coveralls, boots, and safety glasses.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will enable students to work with arc (stick) welding, TIG (aluminum) welding, and cutting processes. They will have the opportunity to develop skills by making metal projects and repairing equipment. Students will be responsible for the cost of materials for personal projects. These costs will generally run between $100 and $300 depending upon project choice. Students are required to bring coveralls, boots, and safety glasses.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to develop the basic techniques of working with wood and studying the processes used in the wood working industry. Projects will involve the use of the majority of the power machines, joining, fastening, sanding, and finishing. Students are required to have approved safety glasses and wear a shop apron. Students will select two projects from the following plans: night stand, end table, coffee table, stereo cabinet, or bookcase. Students will be expected to furnish their own materials for the project.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Cabinetmaking will include safety of hand tools and machines, project planning, identification of all power machines, both portable and stationary, wood joinery, utilization of materials, basic cabinet construction, drawer and door construction, application of cabinet hardware, and finishing. Safety glasses must be worn. A project will be constructed using a paneled door and dovetail drawers. Examples would be a grandfather clock, hutch, desk, or gun cabinet. Students are required to furnish their own materials. Students will be responsible for the cost of materials for personal projects. This course will study a wide variety of technological advances. This will be done through hands-on experiments and class discussions. The course is for the student who wishes to pursue a career as a technician and/or who want to learn more about the principles of technology. Key areas of study include: mechanics, fluid dynamics, electrical and electronic systems, architecture, and thermodynamics.
