COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This high school band is a balanced (as well as possible) group who will be instructed in performing band music while incorporating critical judgment concerning pitch, tone, dynamics, rhythm and musicianship (musical performance). Students will have a working knowledge and facility on his/her instruments of right notes, proper breathing, posture and embouchure and the technical ability to perform required musical scales.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Students will explore his/her own style through a variety of media. Projects will be teacher directed but with opportunities for students to develop their own projects.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Drawing and Painting will study in-depth different media such as charcoal, pastel, graphite, pen and ink, watercolor and acrylic. Students will combine research of different artists, experimentation a variety of techniques, while understanding and developing his/her own creative style. Students will explore the ideas of how artists and genres have influenced the art of our times.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Introduction to Art I is the first course in the study of art fundamentals. A basic knowledge of the elements of design will be explored through a variety of 2-D and 3-D assignments. Students will develop technical skills/craftsmanship, an understanding of a variety of media, art appreciation, knowledge of art history.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Introduction to Art II will build upon the knowledge of Introduction to Art I allowing the students to further explore new techniques and media. The class consists of required assignments as defined by the instructor.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Three-dimensional design will explore a wide variety of media including pottery, paper mache', and mixed media. Students will focus on technique as well as craftsmanship and creativity. Students will explore the idea of how sculpture impacts our visual world.

General (vocal) music stresses the technique of singing using proper fundamentals. It is intended to perfect individual skills, as well as, group participation.
