COURSE TITLE: Agricultural Education I

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is an introductory course to the agricultural education program and will focus on areas of agriculture careers, natural resource management, soil and water conservation, applied technology use in agriculture with computers, as well as some fundamental agriculture mechanics. Aquaculture, raising aquatic animals, is also a focus during this course.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will be split into two major areas of focus. The first will provide an overview of plant and soil science with emphasis on plant physiology and properties of soils. The second section will overview the animal science industry with emphasis on physiology and anatomy. Areas of animal nutrition, reproduction, and selection will be covered.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

AgriScience/Animal Science is designed to reinforce and extend students' knowledge of biological systems and their relationship to production of usable tissues, both plant and animal. Basic biological applications are built upon to examine, in detail, basic growth and management strategies. This class is focused in a laboratory environment. Students should plan on several dissections and laboratories involving biological systems to reinforce classroom lectures.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Students must have a sincere desire to improve leadership qualities and talents. No other former agriculture education classes are required to take this course. A broad view of leadership development through better understanding of an individual's personal development and group interaction. Covers material for those students wishing to become more aware of leadership and human resource management in agriculture and related industries. This course is designed for those who are currently or plan to be in leadership roles.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for students interested in natural resources and conservation. Because of the universal uses of the environment, this course is designed for every student who has an interest in the materials to be covered which include: pollution, wildlife management, conservation, forestry, and energy resources.

Prerequisite: Agricultural Education II, Biology or AgriScience, or Signed permission from Instructor

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will focus on the science and application of horticulture in society. Course content will include plant uses, structure, and cultivation. Methods used to illustrate these areas include bedding plant production, landscaping, floral arranging, plant identification, and design concepts. The student will explore several career opportunities related to the horticulture industry. This class will meet partial science requirements for graduation from Lakeview High School. If all prerequisites and requirements are met, students can earn credit with Central Community College campuses. See instructor for details.

 

COURSE TITLE: Animal Science (Tech Prep)

Prerequisite: Agricultural Education II or Permission from Instructor

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The course will focus on the science and applications of livestock production in society. Course content will include livestock uses, environmental concerns, ration formulation, livestock evaluation, reproduction, species specific management, and so forth. Methods used to illustrate these concepts areas will include artificial insemination, parturition, feeding demonstrations/trials, and many others. The student will explore several career opportunities related to the livestock industry. This class will meet partial science requirements for graduation from Lakeview High School. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is for those students who want an in-depth knowledge about managing a production agriculture or agricultural business enterprise. Material to be covered includes tax management, computerized record keeping, forecasting, government programs, and marketing through the future markets. Prerequisite: Agricultural Education II or Permission of Instructor

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for students who want to use their skills and knowledge to develop and implement a project of their own. The project may consist of agri-science and mechanics or anything related to research and development.
